HOME ENERGY METER -
FUSE BOX CHECKER

Analog meter instruction (fuse box with rotating disk):
  1. Go to the main fuse box in the building and start iStrohm on your mobile.

    1. European fuse box: set the iStrohm r/kWh field (default: 600) according you fuse box specification.
    2. American fuse box: read the Kh value on your fuse box and convert: 1000 / Kh = X and fill in X in iStrohm
      1. Example: if your fuse box reads: 7.2Kh then calculate 1000 / 7.2 = 138.888 so fill in 138.888 or 139
  2. Wait till the fuse box rotating disk runs by the glass and touch the screen (to start the built-in stopwatch).
  3. Wait till the fuse box rotating disk runs by the glass again and touch the screen (to stop the built-in stopwatch).
  4. Measuring completed and now the iStrohm analog dial and digital display shows the total building power usage in Watts.
  5. Touch the screen again to reset iStrohm for another reading if you wish.
* We're working on integration of the American Kh system now, but for now please follow step 2.2

Smart meter instruction (fuse box with digital meter):

iStrohm also works with smart-meters that simulate a rotating disk by flashing an LED (light) or LCD symbol on the display.
Most smart-meters are set to: 1000 impulses / kWh where as others read: 1 impulse / Wh, which is equal to: 1000 imp / kWh.

Some smart-meters use an infra-red LED, requiring an infra-red (IR) detector. Trick: most digital (smartphone) camera's sense IR.
You can test if your (smartphone) camera senses IR by pointing a regular remote control at the lens and press volume "-".

        1. Example: if your fuse box reads: 1.0Kh then calculate 1000 / 1.0 = 1000 so fill in 1000
    2. Wait till the fuse box led or display symbol flashes and touch the screen (to start the built-in stopwatch).
    3. Wait till the fuse box led or display symbol flashes again and touch the screen (to stop the built-in stopwatch).
    4. Measuring completed and now the iStrohm analog dial and digital display shows the total building power usage in Watts.
    5. Touch the screen again to reset iStrohm for another reading if you wish.

    Tip: high power measurements:

If the rotating disk or led/lcd symbol spins or flashes to fast for sharp timing, then record 10 cycles/impulses and multiply by 10.
Fast spinning disks (or led/lcd symbols) often run at stable speeds / intervals and in such cases you could trigger timing by rhythm.
You could even combine the above by measuring 10 cycles triggered by
rhythm. Make sure you start (counting) at 0 and stop at 10.

    Tip: check fuse box calibration:

This test is at your own risk as only you can decide wether it is safe to disconnect electricity for a couple of minutes.

Use two or more different socket power-meters to measure say a 100 Watt lightbulb and test for 100 Watt readings.
Switch off all fuses, except the kitchen fuse and make sure only the 100 Watt lightbulb is turned on in the kitchen.

Measure the rotating disk or led/lcd symbol (as instructed) and iStrohm should read precise or close to a 100 Watt.
If iStrohm doesn't read 100 Watt or something close to that then your fuse box might require professional calibration.
Don't forget to switch on all fuses again and reconnect all appliances in the kitchen, especially your refrigerators etc.

    Please check for updates regularly:
    • Apple IOS
      • Open AppStore on your mobile and check the updates tab
    • Google Android
      • Open Play Store on your mobile
      • Tap the "menu" button of the phone
      • Tap "My apps"

When an iStrohm update is available, it will apear in the list and only needs an update.
Please don't hesitate to send me an email or a phone call for support with iStrohm.
